Looking for a next step?
You might have some clear next steps about where God is leading you in this new year. We have incredible opportunities led by gifted leaders to help you on your journey. But if you’re not sure what your next steps are, we have no doubt that entering into a disciple-making relationship, being in community with other believers, and digging deeper into the Bible are some of the best places to start.
COVID-19 Update Most classes and ministries are not meeting on campus, many have transitioned to virtual gatherings. Please contact the ministry leader to determine if the class you're interested in is meeting.

Northland’s Biggie Choir is a gathering of singers from all backgrounds who love to worship. We affectionately call it “Biggie Choir” since it’s a bigger vocal team than our typical weekly worship team. This group comes together to prepare and lead weekend worship services periodically throughout the year. Anyone in fifth grade and older can participate. While no audition is required, you will be expected to memorize music and sing harmonies. Biggie Choir is a fantastic way to lead worship at Northland with a less stringent time commitment. Childcare is provided for rehearsals and services.
What if I’m just a novice singer or I get stage-fright?
No worries; that’s exactly what the Biggie Choir is for! On Biggie weekends, we all sing together in a choir formation on stage. You won’t be alone, and our weekly worship team will be singing on stage with you. Biggie Choir is made up of singers from all backgrounds and levels, and our vocal directors and worship team will make sure you are comfortable!
What is the time commitment?
We typically have rehearsals on the two Thursday evenings leading up to the weekend of worship. The rehearsals are at Northland and last for about two hours.
We also have rehearsals before each service that begin about one to two hours before each service. We use this time for a vocal sound check and rehearsal with the band.
We also ask that you consider volunteering to participate in all of the weekend worship services if you can, but that is not necessary. (Service times are Saturdays at 5 p.m., Sundays at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., and Mondays at 7 p.m.)
Do I have to read music?
No. While you will find that many of our Biggie Choir members do read music, there are several that do not. We provide vocal breakdowns of each part when possible for you to listen to throughout the weeks leading up to our weekend worship.

Nanas, Papas, and Friends: Share the Joy of Reading with Children
Nanas, Papas and Friends share the joy of reading on a one-to-one basis with students in either the Boys and Girls Club or at Goldsboro Elementary Magnet School in Sanford. We welcome all who have become Dividends (fancy word for being a volunteer) (https://www.scps.k12.fl.us). We read with pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, and special needs children on Wednesday mornings from 9:15-11:00 one-on-one. Some of us tutor children in the Reading Acceleration Program (RAP) created to help first or second graders who are reading below grade level. We read Tuesday-Friday afternoons from 3:30-6:00 at the Boys and Girls Club. Rebekah will meet you to connect you with one child at a time to tutor and mentor. These children who may be struggling readers are greatly encouraged and make significant progress when caring people who love reading are there to show them they believe in them. Come Join us! This program which began out of Northland 18 years ago has a positive impact for everyone involved. The students develop a love of reading, teachers appreciate having additional help, and volunteers know that their effort makes a difference.

PetPals is a 23 year old ministry of Northland Church designed to serve residents and staff in 6 assisted living facilities and nursing homes. We provide comfort and smiles with our dogs, cats, and volunteers. As volunteers, the folks at the end of the leash, we serve as disciples of Christ by actively listening to residents' stories and asking questions of these wise, chronologically-gifted people.
We created Pen Pals to continue serving during the pandemic since we cannot take normal visits inside the facilities. Pen Pals write letters, send cards and photos, share favorite Bible verses, and truly provide a bright spot for some very lonely people. Become a Pen Pal and you’ll be blessed by the process of connecting. Just send a note to Bob Wright at the email included here and say yes.
Share your pets with people in nursing homes, assisted-living facilities, etc.

Pray for their physical, emotional and spiritual health. Pray for the believers inside that they will be salt and light. And we are praying for a time when we can resume live web-stream services inside
The Prison and Jail Transition Ministry (PJTM) serves those who are incarcerated in the local jail, state prison and therapeutic facilities via live web-stream worship into their facility.
Men and women can serve in several roles within the ministry. In-cell and on Northland campus opportunities exist locally, there is something to do for everyone.

Isaiah 53:3-4 says, "He was despised and forsaken of men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief ... Surely our griefs He Himself bore, and our sorrows He carried." Grief is an overwhelming emotion that can look so many different ways ... and is unknowable until it knows you fully. We at Northland Church believe deeply in the transforming power of presence in each others' lives, and that may be nowhere more tangible than in the face of loss.
If you or someone you care for has suffered loss recently, please come and be a part of these healing communities where together we will pursue Christ as the only One who can carry our grief.

We’re introducing something new for the women of Northland called Flourish. Flourish is a discipleship journey inviting women to engage in relationships focused on encouraging and challenging one another in their walk with Jesus. The way we live matters and it demonstrates God in our lives. Intentional relationships that focus on godly instruction, encouragement and life giving support are the type of relationships we want every woman at Northland to be a part of.
“God created us to be in community with other believers because He knew we couldn’t do this life alone.” –Flourish Mentor Journal, pg. 30
We believe mentoring relationships help us to be more Fully Alive in Jesus as we benefit from the encouragement and wisdom of godly women who have gone before us and reflect Him.
This year-long journey is designed to:
Call women to a higher standard by learning to see Jesus in every aspect of our lives.
Build relationships that provide spiritual growth reflecting Christ to the world.
Know how our story fits in the larger story of God by being rooted in Scripture.
Raise up godly women leaders through the valuable process of mentoring and discipleship.
“Let me give you a new command: Love one another. In the same way I loved you, you love one another. This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples— when they see the love you have for each other.” –John 13:34-35 (MSG)

Women (50+) who meet weekly to dig deeper into the Scripture together and also involved in service projects. Some of us volunteer with Good News Club or with Nanas, Papas and Friends at Goldsboro and Pine Crest Elementary Schools in Sanford. Others volunteer to worship with women or teach in the ReNEW program for incarcerated women at John E Polk Correctional Center. Some of our members participate in Bible Study Fellowship. We have a heart for people who are hungry, homeless and marginalized from society.
Meeting Virtually (On campus group is full but contact Margie to join virtually.)

In this verse-by-verse study of the book of Hebrews, Jen Wilkin explores how God "provided something better for us" in the person of Jesus Christ. (Hebrews 11:40). Through stories of Old Testament heroes and practices, the author of Hebrews demonstrates how the new covenant is superior to the old and how Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of every promise. Explore familiar verses in context of the entire Bible, learning how to place your hope and faith in Jesus alone. (10 sessions) If you have questions about our WBS, please email Cindy Lowe atcindylowe7457@gmail.com. Monday class > Tuesday class >
