Ponce Inlet Microchurch Sponsors 4th Annual Afternoon Tea

by Peggy, Ponce Inlet Microchurch Leader

There’s something special about a community coming together with purpose—and this past weekend, Northland’s Ponce Inlet Microchurch did just that.

Our 4th Annual Afternoon Tea wasn’t just a lovely gathering filled with conversation and connection; it was an opportunity to rally around an incredible local mission: supporting The Chiles Academy right here in Daytona Beach.

If you’re not familiar with The Chiles Academy, it’s a Volusia County charter high school with a 501(c)(3) designation—and a truly inspiring purpose. Their mission centers on providing a supportive, nurturing environment for pregnant and parenting students, helping them stay on track to earn their high school diplomas while building a foundation for an independent, responsible future.

After touring the campus with Donna, I can say firsthand: this is more than a school. It’s a place of encouragement, resilience, and hope. You can feel it in the classrooms, see it in the hallways, and sense it in the way students are supported every step of the way.

And our community showed up in a big way.

Thanks to the generosity of local businesses, our Harbour Village neighbors, and so many friends, we raised nearly $3,000 in cash donations—along with two carloads of baby items, clothing, and school supplies. The turnout was incredible, and the room was filled with both generosity and joy.

We were also honored to welcome some special guests, including Ponce Inlet Mayor Lois Paritsky and Daytona Beach Shores Mayor Nancy Miller, whose presence made the day even more meaningful.

Most importantly, the team at The Chiles Academy felt the impact. They shared how overwhelmed they were by the outpouring of love and support—and extended a heartfelt invitation for us to attend their upcoming graduation ceremony. Several members of our Microchurch are already planning to be there to celebrate these students and their achievements.

Moments like this remind us what’s possible when a community leans in, gives generously, and supports one another.

If you’re in the Ponce Inlet area, Northland gathers every Sunday at 9 a.m. We’d love to have you join us—reach out to Joe for more details.
