Ponce Inlet Micro Church Completes 2026-2027 Backpack Drive for RJ Longstreet Elementary
Every year, our Ponce Inlet Microchurch rallies together for one mission: making sure students at RJ Longstreet Elementary School start the year ready to learn. We're excited to share that we've wrapped up another successful Backpack Drive, and the impact keeps growing.
Why RJ Longstreet Elementary?
RJ Longstreet has one of the highest homelessness rates in Volusia County. For many of these students, school supplies are not a given. Our Ponce Inlet Microchurch saw that need and committed to meeting it, year after year.
What We Provided
This year, we supplied 24 filled backpacks for grades K-5, per grade level, two for boys and two for girls— each packed with every item on their grade-level school needs list, but we didn't stop there. We also supplemented additional supplies for the school's Media Center, Nurse's Office, and Care Closet, making sure the support extends beyond the classroom.
A Community Behind the Mission
The Harbour Village community shows up in a big way, joining our Harbour Village Microchurch outreach efforts; and it is through the generosity of our neighbors, from purchasing supplies to spreading the word, that makes drives like this possible. This isn't just a church project; it's a whole community saying we're with you to the families who need it most.
More Than Backpacks
At its core, this drive is about showing God's love in a tangible way. It's about a neighborhood church and community saying to a neighborhood school: we see you, and we've got your back. That's what microchurches are all about: being the hands and feet of Jesus right where you live.
Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, and prayed over this year's drive. We're so grateful to bring these needed resources to our community, and we can't wait to do it again.
