Mary Lou Couchois has been serving at Northland since 2001. She is part of the LifeHope Team and Northland's Adoption and Foster Care Ministry. Her passion is serving people in need in the church family and community in order to connect them to a relationship with God. Mary Lou has attended many seminars and has her certificate in lay counseling. Privileged to grow up in a Christ-centered home where serving others was encouraged, she has always enjoyed volunteering and helping those in need, from hospital patients to unwed mothers and the homeless population. She has degrees as a cosmetologist and an esthetician, and also started up and grew a successful gift shop in Ocala, Florida. Once Mary Lou started a family, she became a stay-at-home mom to her sons, Kevin and Chad "who are now K-9 Police officers" and adopted a daughter, Heather, who has blessed her with two beautiful granddaughters. When Mary Lou is not busy with her Northland family, her children or granddaughters, Ciarra, Lilly Violet, Kennedie and Kennzie, she's likely to be praying and caring for the people at Lake Mary Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lake Mary or Heritage Village in Longwood. Mary Lou is present at many of Northland's weekend services to help meet congregational needs. "I hope to serve the congregation with God's help by connecting with the struggling hearts and souls of other people and allowing God's grace to flow through me to them," she says.
