The Tower of Babel (August 3-4)

The Tower of Babel (August 3-4)

We worship the God who provides all we need. This weekend in children's church, we are reading the story of the Tower of Babel. We are reminded to focus on God alone and to point others to His greatness instead of ourselves.

When you sit at home: Read Genesis 11:1-9. Why did God stop the people from completing the Tower of Babel? (God was not pleased with them because the builders wanted to be famous. They wanted to show their own greatness by building a city with a tower so high it reached the heavens.)

Ages 4-K Whisper Verse: “Let us build.”

When you walk along the road: God wants us to honor Him with the talents and abilities He has given us. How can we honor God with what we create, say, and do?

When you lie down: Pray this prayer each day this week: “God, thank You for giving us all we need to build and create for You. Use the things we create to help others and to point them to You. Amen.”

When you get up (SERVE!): This weekend at Northland, we are collecting food items and school supplies through the Red Bag Project. You can serve as a family by filling a Red Bag (or any bag you have at home) or by helping to sort and pack bags Sunday, August 4 from 12:30 to 3 p.m. in The Rink. You do not need to register, and if you can’t stay the whole time, that’s OK; just come help when you can. For more information: click here.

When you get up (FUN!): Gather building blocks or other stackable items such as crackers, boxes of food, or pillows and take turns building at all tower together. As you add each block, share something wonderful God has done by completing this sentence: “God is great. He _____.” (e.g., Gave me friends, made me a fast runner.) It will be a tower built with praises!
