Shepherds See God's Promised Son (Dec 29-31)

Shepherds See God's Promised Son (Dec 29-31)

We worship the God of Peace. Jesus brings peace between God and all who believe in Him.

When you sit at home: Ages 3-5 read Luke 2:8-20. Grades 1-2 read Luke 2:4-18. Grades 3-5 read Luke 2:4-18; John 14:27. How would you explain the peace God gives to all who believe in Jesus?

When you walk along the road: How can you help others find peace with God and with one another?

When you lie down: Pray this prayer each day this week: “Thank You, Lord, for the peace You brought us through Jesus. Fill us with Your Spirit that we might truly celebrate and praise You as the heavenly host and shepherds did. Amen.”

“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good.” Psalm 118:1a

' For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulders: and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6 (KJV)

Nativity: If you have your nativity set on display, set the wise men to the side moving them close to Jesus as you read the scripture.

Scripture: Matthew 2:-12

The Wise Men came from a long distance to seek the newborn King. Traditional nativity scenes have three 'Wise Men' visiting the infant Jesus on the night of his birth. However, the Bible doesn’t tell us there were three wise men, nor is it likely that they were there on that first night. They may not have arrived until Jesus was about two years old. If you would like to learn more, check out

Prayer: Thank You, Lord, that we can worship You just as the wise men did. May we be as excited about knowing You as they were. Help us to let others know Christmas is special because it is Jesus’ birthday. Show us how we can bring joy to those around us this Christmas season and always. Amen.

Sing: We Three Kings

Bonus: From the movie, “The Star,” 'We Three Kings' by Kirk Franklin
