Raise The Roof December Update 2022

August 31, 2022

You might be wondering how our Raise The Roof project is going… Well, the rink roof project is nearing completion, however, we found some surprises over there that we are taking care of before wrapping up—things like fixing stucco, reinforcing some areas of the roof, and making sure there are no leaks. As far as some of the other projects, our early childhood wings both got a fresh coat of paint. The floors were also professionally cleaned and waxed and we will be replacing the carpets over Christmas break when our Cooperative school is not in session. We are also in the early planning stages of many of the future plans for The Rink interior. Would you continue to pray for wisdom and discernment as we make these important decisions for our church? We will continue to update you on Raise The Roof in the coming months.

You may have noticed the difference in the Rink’s roof when you drove in. The roof replacement began this on Monday, August 1. This entire process is expected to take two to four weeks to complete. This project would not have been possible without your generosity through our Raise the Roof giving campaign back in July. We are already putting your funds to use! In addition to the roof, improvements are already underway in the Children’s Worship Wing. We’ve got fresh paint on the walls and will be replacing the carpet over Christmas break. We are so excited to be entering this new season in the life of our church!

Now that Raise The Roof is over, you may wonder, “Now what? Where is the roof?” Glad you asked!

The Rink roof materials have been purchased, and we were initially planning to begin the installation next week. However, with all the supply chain issues, we are still waiting for all the materials to arrive. We expect the roof installation to begin before the end of July, but we’ll keep you posted.

This isn’t technically part of Raise The Roof, but since it’s related to our facilities, we also wanted to include this update. You may remember that we had a pipe burst near The HUB a few months ago, which flooded some of the foyer and surrounding areas. We are continuing to repair the damage that this caused (most of which is getting covered by insurance claims). In the next few weeks, the drywall will be painted, The HUB will get re-piped, and The HUB will have new flooring installed.

Aside from the Rink Roof, there are many other areas these funds will be deployed—in our CoOp/Children’s areas, in the Rink/Student Ministries areas, our café, and covering the deficit from our 2021-2022 fiscal year. Our team is currently at work gathering quotes and samples. Since we didn’t know how much money we would raise for Raise The Roof, much of our work couldn’t begin until we knew how much we had raised.

Stay tuned for more exciting updates on Raise The Roof in the coming weeks.

July 9, 2022

Northland family, you’ve waited patiently for the final reveal for the Raise the Roof giving campaign. The final number for RTR was $900,000! This is AMAZING! Now, some of you might be saying, “but we didn’t hit our goal of $1,000,000.” Check this out: As a church, we exceeded the general budget for the month of June by over $200,000. Therefore, the combined giving between the general budget and RTR was over $1.1 million! This is absolutely INCREDIBLE and AMAZING! In short, Northland, YOU RAISED THE ROOF—by giving above and beyond!

As a result of your generosity, we will end our fiscal year, July 1, 2021, to June 20, 2022, with a much smaller than anticipated shortfall—around 4%. In addition, we will be able to not only replace the Rink roof but enhance the Rink for our Student ministry, expand the Café’s offerings and hours for outreach, and update elements of the children and COOP areas.

Thank you for making this campaign such a success! Your support is why we can keep moving forward in pursuing God’s mission for Northland Church. I am reminded of when Paul recalled receiving the gifts from the Philippians. He expressed in Philippians 4:18-19, “They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.  And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”
