Prophets Jeremiah and Habakkuk (Oct 20-22)
We worship the God who is faithful. That means He keeps all His promises. Remembering God is faithful during hard times helps us to wait for Him to make things right.
When you sit at home: Age 3-Kindergarten read Jeremiah 38:5-14, 17, 20. How did God protect Jeremiah? God gave Jeremiah a message for the people and the king. What was the message? (Obey the Lord.) What are some of the ways God wants us to obey Him?
Grades 1-5 read Habakkuk 1:2, 13; 2:2-4, 20; 3:17-18. In Habakkuk 1:2, Habakkuk asked why God wasn’t punishing His people for their wrongdoing. God told him that He would have the Babylonians punish them. Then in Habakkuk 1:13, Habakkuk asked why a fair God would punish His people with such an evil enemy whose sins were far worse. How did God answer him (2:2-4)? What was Habakkuk’s response (3:17-18)? What can we learn from this Bible story?
When you walk along the road: Why is it difficult to trust God during difficult times? Every day we can make the choice to trust and obey God even when it’s hard. If we live by faith, then we trust God will keep His promises.
When you lie down: Pray this prayer each day this week: “Thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness. Help us live by faith and obey You. Help us to rejoice in Your presence and speak Your Word even during difficult times. Amen.”
Where in your life are you having a hard time trusting God? Pray and ask God to help you trust and obey Him. Then, make a list of the good things you can focus on to help you rejoice in the Lord even when life doesn’t seem fair. Hang it in a place where you will see it often.
“The Lord is faithful to all His promises and loving toward all He has made.” Psalm 145:13b
'He humbled Himself and became obedient to death—even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.”
