Prayer Guide for our Succession Planning Committee
Brothers and sisters at Northland Church and beyond, this your invitation to join us in prayer for each member of the Succession Planning Committee—that God would use their unique voices in committee discussions and that the end result of the process would be a collaborative and cohesive path forward toward the selection of our next Pastor! You, as the congregation, are participating along with the pastors, elders, staff, and other members of our church in praying together. Thank you.
“Prayer is not the preparation of the work. Prayer is the work.” – Oswald Chambers
“God shapes the world by prayer.” – E. M. Bounds
Every great movement of God is bathed in prayer. Moses was an intercessor for Joshua and the army when they went into battle (Exodus 17:8-16). Samuel was a man of prayer throughout his leadership and as he finished he said, “moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you, I will teach you the good and right way” (1 Samuel 1:12:23-24). King David followed Samuel in the history of the nation and his writings in the Book of Psalms with praises, thanksgiving, and lament as prayers. Queen Esther challenged Mordecai to call their people to prayer and fasting and they did (Esther 4:15-17).
The Apostle Paul over and over appealed for prayer for the ministry God has entrusted into his hands. Check these out: Romans 15:30-33; 2 Corinthians 1:10-11; Ephesians 6:19-20; Philippians 1:19-20; Colossians 4:2-4; 1 Thessalonians 5:25; 2 Thessalonians 3:1-2; Philemon 22. In the work and teachings of Jesus Christ, prayer to the Heavenly was His source of life. He taught and modeled prayer in all areas of ministry. He said, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! (Matthew 7:7-11)

This Prayer Guide will assist us all in praying for the Succession Planning Committee. Feel free to add more scriptures to the sections as you pray. The names of members and resources are also listed on the Succession Planning update page. We are also praying for you. We are counting on your prayers so that together we see what God does for His Namesake, in His Kingdom work, and for His glory.
“Prayers outlive the lives of those who uttered them; outlive a generation, outlive an age, outlive a world.” – E. M. Bounds
I encourage you to view the Prayer Guide and the team involved in the Succession Planning Committee. Please invite your family and friends to pray with us as well. Blessings as we seek the Lord together. Amen.
For our church,
