Over $600 Raised for Orphanage in Ukraine by Children’s Church
Every month our kids in Children’s Church give their tithes and offerings to a specific cause. Back in October, the Children’s Church offering went to Music Mission Kiev, a nonprofit organization that uses sacred classical music to introduce the gospel to the country of Ukraine and the world. Our children raised $668.12 during the month of October—which was one of the largest offerings Children’s Church received in 2019! Little did they know the impact their generosity would have.
These funds went directly to Stara Basan Orphanage in Ukraine to cover the costs of:
- Christmas gifts for the children in the orphanage
- Sending a team of 6 to travel 2 hours outside of Kyiv to Stara Basan orphanage
- Lunch for 70 (including puppeteering team)
- Presenting the Christmas story from the New Testament to the 50 oldest orphans
- Gifts for 60 children
- Helping replace a hot water heater for their kitchen that was over 30 years old
Many children coming out of orphanages in Ukraine who are not properly trained or educated become targets for the sex trade. Music Mission Kiev works to teach the children not only about Christ, but also equips them with practical trade skills so they are set up for success professionally when they leave the orphanage.
This past Sunday, one of the leaders from the ministry hand-delivered thank you notes written by the children in the orphanage to us. This upcoming weekend we are going to show these thank you notes in Children’s Church, giving the kids a heart-to-heart connection with the children in Ukraine that they blessed. It’s incredible to see glimpses of the impact we as Christ-followers, no matter how small, can have around the world when we band together for a common cause.
