“Bear one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2 (NASB)
Stephen Ministers are members of our congregation who have received 50 hours of practical, hands-on training and resources to learn how to provide Christ-centered care to those who are hurting. This training is supplied by Northland’s Pastors, Stephen Leaders, and the national office of Stephen Ministries to equip candidates.
Ministers come from various backgrounds but have in common their passion for bringing the love of Christ to people going through struggles. Needs such as COVID Fatigue, job loss, disability, loneliness, divorce, infertility, the loss of a loved one, discouragement, relocation, empty nest, or other health or spiritual crisis are areas where care is provided.
Our God does not intend for us to go through troubles alone. Therefore, keeping in mind that only God cures, Stephen Ministers provide care in listening, encouraging, prayer, and emotional and spiritual support.
After a match is made, a Minister meets weekly one-on-one with their Care Receiver. The caring relationship is not goal-oriented but is a process of healing, of walking alongside someone in need.
Due to the restrictions caused by COVID-19, our 2020 Minister Candidates just completed their training this month. They have joined current Ministers and are ready to serve using their gifts, abilities, and acquired skills.
If you need care, please contact Stephen Ministry’s non-emergency line at 407-949-4013. Leave your name, phone number, and a brief message, and our Referrals Coordinator will get back to you within 2-3 days.
Are you interested in becoming a Stephen Minister? Please be on the lookout for future notifications of Stephen Ministry information nights or see us at a table in the foyer after weekend services and visit their ministry page.
