Legacy, by Becky Hunter
June 1985 at the picnic Northland hosted to welcome us
Well that was just awesome; 32-plus years of ministry at Northland. 32-plus years with no scandals, no church splits, and no fear in reaching out to any and all with our hearts wide open … always hoping for relationships that would help others welcome Jesus into their lives.
Nearly all of those years we served alongside our best friends, Vernon and Connie Rainwater and Tim and Eleanor Tracey, while we watched God grow this beautiful congregation from less than 200 to more than 20,000. God trusted this church enough to give it a responsible and respected role in local, national and international ministry efforts. People around the globe know that they can count on Northland to be a blessing.
So as Joel and I head into a new season of ministry beyond the church walls the only legacy we care about is any part that he or I had in the fact that you are walking with Jesus, you are loving those God puts in your path, and you are looking for ways to be a blessing.
32-plus years of ministry at Northland...loved it. Love you.
“Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God. Whenever I pray, I make my requests for all of you with joy, for you have been my partners in spreading the Good News about Christ from the time you first heard it until now.” - Philippians 1:3-5 (NLT)
