Jonah Prays to God/ Micah and God?s Courtroom (Sept 29-Oct 1)
We worship the God who is faithful. That means He keeps all His promises.
When you sit at home: Age 3-Kindergarten read Jonah 2:1-2, 5-10. Jonah was sorry for not obeying God’s command to go to Ninevah. What did God do when Jonah asked for forgiveness?
Grades 1-5 read Micah 6:1-2, 6, 8; 7:8b-9, 13, 18-19. What are the three choices God wants us to make (Micah 6:8)? Talk about what each of these three phrases mean.
When you walk along the road: Today’s Bible stories are great reminders of the hope we have in God. Even when we make wrong choices, God promises to forgive us when we ask. Micah 7:19 says God “will trample our sins under [His] feet and throw them into the depths of the ocean!” What is one sin you struggle with that you can ask God to forgive and throw into the sea?
When you lie down: Pray this prayer each day this week: “Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayers. Thank You for showing compassion on us and forgiving us. Help us to walk humbly with You. Amen.”
When you get up: Use this activity to talk about God’s forgiveness. Fill a clear glass or jar halfway with water. Add two drops of food coloring and stir so the water is one color. Then, have an adult put a few drops of bleach in the water. Notice how the color disappears and the water is clear again! The food coloring represents the bad choices we all make. The bleach represents the forgiveness God offers us, cleansing our sins!
“The Lord is faithful to all His promises and loving toward all He has made.” Psalm 145:13b
'He humbled Himself and became obedient to death—even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.”
Philippians 2:8b-11a
