We worship the God who speaks. This weekend in children's church, we continue the story of Moses. Ages 3-K learned Pharaoh would not let the people go when God sent the plague of flies. Grades 1-2 learned it took 10 terrible plagues before Pharaoh would let God’s people go. Grades 3-5 went more in depth and learned the significance of the Passover and the Passover Lamb.
When you sit at home: Ages 3-K read Exodus 8:20-32. What would it be like to have flies fill your home and the outdoors?
Grades 1-2 read Exodus 7:16-18; 8:1-4, 20-21, 28; 10:3-6. Grades 3-5 read Exodus 11:1; 12:21-31. How would you have felt if you lived at the time of the plagues? Which would be worse: frogs, flies, or darkness?
When you walk along the road: It is important that we listen to and obey God. How does God speak to us? Why do you think it’s important that we listen and obey when He speaks?
Ages 4-K Whisper Verse: “Be quick to listen.”
When you lie down: Pray this prayer each day this week: “Forgive us, Lord, when we refuse to listen to You and Your messengers. Open our hearts and minds to accept Your directions. Amen.”
When you get up: Play “Moses Says.” Choose one person to be the caller. When the caller says “Moses says,” everyone obeys the command that follows. If the command is given without the words “Moses says,” then don’t move. Some suggested commands are swat at a fly, cover your eyes, jump like a frog, croak like a frog, or stand on one foot. If anyone moves when they aren’t supposed to, then everyone buzzes like the flies around Pharaoh’s head, but everyone stays in the game. Play as long as you like, taking turns as the caller.
Grades 1-5 Bible Memory Verse
“Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!” Matthew 25:23
