God Saves Noah (July 27-28)
We worship the God who provides. This weekend in children's church, we are reading the story of Noah and the ark. We know God provided a way to save Noah, his family, and the animals. God provides a way for us to be saved, too!
This weekend, Grades 1-5 will receive a personal invitation to be close to God through receiving Jesus as their Lord and Savior. If you or your child would like to know more about how to receive eternal life, use the Children’s Guide for New Believers (downloadable here) for further discussion and prayer.
When you sit at home: Read Genesis 6:5-9,14, 19, 22; 7:16-18, 23-24; 8:1, 7-12; 9:13-15. Noah’s family and the animals stayed on the ark for many months.Imagine your family was on the ark. What do you think it would have been like living on a boat with that many animals?
Ages 4-K Whisper Verse: “Come out of the ark.”
When you walk along the road: God provided the only way for Noah to be saved from the flood. Noah obeyed and was saved. What is the name of the only One who can save us? (Jesus.) Is there any other way to be saved from punishment for our sins? (No, Jesus is the only way.) Sin is doing wrong in God’s eyes. By dying on the cross, Jesus made a way for us to be forgiven for our sins and to have life forever close with God. How do you think being close with God changes your life?
When you lie down: Pray this prayer each day this week: “God, thank You for allowing Jesus to die on the cross so we can be forever close to You. Help us to trust and obey You. Amen.”
When you get up: God told Noah exactly how to build an ark to hold many heavy animals and still float through heavy rains and flooding. To celebrate that Noah’s ark stayed afloat, let’splay “WILL IT FLOAT?” Fill a bucket or large bowl with water and gather a variety of items that may or may not float (e.g., wood block, modeling clay, aluminum foil, penny, ruler, crayon, drinking straw, cork, pencil, paper clip, twig, marble). Before dropping an item into the bucket, as a family decide whether you think the item will sink and float. Take turns dropping items in the bucket and see what happens!
