Bahamas: Road to Recovery
This past weekend, you gave an additional $33,671.49 to the Bahamas relief efforts. That brings our grand total of donations to $66,153.32.
While the relief efforts in the Bahamas continue, recovery has also started both in Abaco and Freeport. A children's home in Freeport was destroyed but no children were lost when they were evacuated. Our partners there have connected with the administration to help them rebuild and refurnish the building. Our partner churches on the island continue to distribute the relief supplies even amid the rubble. The first efforts in clearing and rebuilding have also started on areas of the Abacos. Teams from our partner churches on Eleuthera and the 350+ evacuees now housed there are going by boat to build a staging area for relief teams from the U.S. We are helping feed these displaced Abaconians as well as provide food and schoolbooks for their children.
Northland's support is providing shipments by sea and air to those who lost everything, even their documents (I.D.s, passports, clothing, shoes, homes). We will be scheduling rebuilding teams as soon as we know we have food, water and housing for them. We still have a long way to go, but progress is seen daily. Keep praying!
