“No Worries,” by Becky Hunter
Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes. Matthew 6:34 (The Message)
When we worry, we go to a place that doesn’t exist and try to address circumstances that may never materialize.
Years ago Nancy Curtis, a pastor’s wife I admire greatly, stated this principle of Matthew 6:34, in a way I finally really understood it. “The reason we never should worry is that our God is a real God. He helps us in our real needs, but when we worry, we enter a pretend place and so we go alone.”
I pray that our real God will comfort you in your real need and that you won’t be isolated from His power by wandering into the mirage generated by worry. God will help you deal with every difficulty you face, but not before you are actually facing it.
For Nancy: nurse looking for a job: Children First nursing agency(407-513-5000) is always looking for good nurses for either private duty home care or group homes. They are pediatric, but some patients are older my son is 25 and lives in group home with someone else in 20’s and a 31 year old, as well as a 4 year old. If you contact, ask about my son Luke. We would love to have another christian nurse caring for him.
I naturally tend to be a worrier. The Lord has lead me to study Peace for the past 5 years. I knew today when I woke up, I needed to immediately get into worship music and the word and seek God and His Peace. Worry and fear are enemies of Peace. I woke up today with worry and fear over the Presidents speech and the news of government defaulting on payments. I know many on social security or ssi disability. I have a 25 year old son apparently dependent on social security disability and Medicaid for his needs. Phil. 4:19 of course says my God will supply all my needs… He is our source. You are right, worry is going to the place of “What if’s.” God is the great “I am.” He gives us grace for one day at a time! See also Is.26:3 and John 14:27. Jesus gave us his peace for all circumstances!
What an on time word for me as I venture into new places today with the care of my elderly parents. Thank You.
Appreciate your wisdom, Becky! This really spoke to me.
I am praying for you Nancy! I know God will put you right where He needs you. Wherever you end up working, the people there will be so blessed to have someone who loves God and His Word right there with them. Stay faithful. He will be. He always is.
I really appreciate these words today. I am a nurse and am looking for a job….Now I know how lots of other people feel today. Wow, I am trying to put the footwork in, trying to keep in His word and need to remember God has blessed me in sooo many ways. Please put me in some prayers. Thanks, Nancy
This is a great reminder Becky. Recently I’ve seen God show up in big ways just as I need Him most. I know that forging ahead without Him assures pain but as I listen with an open heart, to follow His lead, I find myself in a place of peace and confidence. Worry is replaced with a sense of joyful expectation.
great advice, Becky. thanks for the reminder! God bless you and your family…I know He does! :)+
