Finding My Place at Northland
My name is Kristin Costanzo and I have been coming to Northland since 2013. I participate in Access Ministries—FaithAbility, Boost and Buddy Break. I teach an ASL class at the Community Arts Connection program and I sign with the Northland Signing Choir. On Sundays I go to the 11 a.m. service and I sit in the sign language section.
I’m 31-years-old and I have Down syndrome. I was raised a Catholic and went to Catholic school. My friend Nin brought me to Northland. I was not sure I wanted to go. I really did not want to learn the Bible or go to church, but my mom and dad said to go check it out.
Northland has changed me. I’m now a Christian. My spiritual birthday is September 27, 2015. Pastor Vernon baptized me on May 20, 2016. Northland is like home to me. I feel welcome and included. At Northland I can be me and it’s OK.
Now I read my bible with my mom almost every day. I’m learning about who God is and what He has done.
