About Us

Our Mission

Northland Church exists to glorify God as we participate in His mission of redeeming a people from all peoples by engaging neighbors and nations to be Fully Alive in King Jesus through the power of the Spirit.

Here at Northland, we love gathering as a family to be encouraged and challenged, but this is just one part of the life of our church. Jesus has set us apart to live differently so we can reflect his goodness at home, school, work and every sphere of life. We count it an honor and privilege to declare and demonstrate the good news of Jesus … for the glory of God and the good of the world!

Our Beliefs

All our beliefs center on Jesus our King. We celebrate His matchless life and His infinite grace, and invite all to be Fully Alive in Him.

  • We believe the Bible, consisting of both Old and New Testaments, is the inspired Word of God and is inerrant in the original writings, and is the Christian's ultimate and final authority in faith and conduct.

    (2 Timothy 3:16–17) (Psalm 19:7–10) (2 Peter 1:19–21)

  • We believe in one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three "persons"—God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

    A. (God the Father) We believe that everything exists to bring God the Father glory. God the Father reigns with providential care over His universe, His creatures, and the flow and the stream of human history according to the purposes of His grace. He is all powerful, all knowing, all loving, and all wise.

    B. (God the Son) We believe by miracle of the virgin birth that the Lord Jesus Christ, eternal Son of God, became man without ceasing to be God in order to reveal God and redeem man; that He died as the substitutionary sacrifice for our sins, and arose bodily from the dead; and that He is now exalted at the right-hand of God, Head of the Church, and Lord/King of the individual believer. It is through Jesus' death and resurrection sinful humans are justified, sanctified, and glorified.

    C. (God the Holy Spirit) We believe the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, regenerates the believing sinner, and at conversion, baptizes him into the Church. We believe that He indwells, guides, instructs, and empowers the believer for godly living and service, and that He seals and keeps them until the Lord comes. We believe that He bestows spiritual gifts upon each one so that they might exercise them for the strengthening and outreach of the Body of Christ.

  • We believe that humanity was created in the image of God, but that humanity sinned, incurring not only physical death, but also spiritual death, which is separation from God, and which is inherited by every member of Adam's race. We believe that all people are subject to the power of the devil and have within themselves no possible means of recovery or salvation.

  • We believe that salvation from the guilt and condemnation of sin is possible only as the gift of God's grace—through Jesus Christ. It cannot be gained by good resolutions, sincere efforts, nor submission to rules, regulations, or ordinances of any church, but is freely bestowed on all who put their faith in Christ and trust in the work of Christ which was accomplished on the cross of Calvary. All who trust the Savior pass from death unto life, are forgiven of their sins, accepted by the Father, and born into His family by the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit through the Word of God. We believe the unrighteous—those who are not saved—will be consigned to Hell, the place of everlasting punishment and separation from the presence of the Lord.

  • We believe God ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. It is composed of persons related to one another by marriage, blood, or adoption. We believe God created and designed marriage to be a covenantal, sexual, procreative, and lifelong union between one man and one woman for a lifetime or until death do them part. To redefine marriage is a deviation from the teachings of holy Scripture.

We also believe children are fearfully and wonderfully made, and are, from the moment of conception, a blessing from the Lord. Parents are to model a life devoted to Christ as they seek to raise their children under the authority of Christ by teaching them Biblical truth.

  • We believe God's will for His people is to be sexually pure before and during marriage. We also believe people who are tempted by sexual sins—including same-sex attraction—can, in the power of the Holy Spirit, overcome such temptations and walk in Christ's Victory.

  • We believe God created humanity in His image with two gender classifications—male and female. The biological classifications are part of God's creational design and are meant to bring about human flourishing as human beings reflect God's glory in all spheres of life.

  • We believe that the true church is composed of all who, through saving faith in Jesus Christ, have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit, that those who are thus members of the true church will be eligible for membership in the local church—and they are responsible and accountable to Christ as Lord as well as to the pastors/elders who have the calling of overseeing the congregation.

Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are to be observed by the church during the present age. The decision to participate in Baptism and the Lord’s Supper will be on an individual basis, but this participation is not to be regarding in any sense as a means of salvation.

  • We believe that we are called with a holy calling to walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit, and so to live in the power of the indwelling Spirit of God. The flesh (our natural desire) which in this life is never fully eradicated must be kept by the Spirit (through our walk of faith) constantly in subjection to Christ, or it will surely manifest its presence in our lives, to the dishonor of our Lord.

  • We believe in the personal, imminent, second coming of our Lord; we believe this blessed hope has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer in the present. The righteous in their resurrected and glorified bodies will receive their reward and will dwell forever in the New City Jerusalem with the Lord.
