Healthy In Every Way

Northland’s Disaster Response Team (DRT) was initiated after Hurricane Katrina and was mobilized in February 2007, when some of the deadliest tornadoes in Florida’s history swept through the state. Since then, the team has continued to serve the community and prepare for local and national disasters.
More than 500 Northlanders have been trained to assist in various ways—everything from providing medical care and food distribution to setting up temporary pet shelters. Two semi-trailer units allow the team to provide assistance during emergencies, whenever and wherever they occur. The Mobile Medical Response Unit is manned by medical profe
ssional, and the Mobile Kitchen Unit is capable of serving 30,000 meals ... per day!
Members of the DRT are trained both in the classroom and out in the field through simulations. Once a month, team members sharpen their skills at local community outreaches.
