Faith & Disability Conference

Shepherd's Hope is a faith-based organization of volunteers that exists to provide access to health care for the uninsured. They operate 10 health centers that are located in donated facilities at schools, places of worship, and other community agencies. The facilities are open in the evenings to accommodate working families. Different faith communities sponsor each health center, serving as the primary resources for volunteer doctors, nurses and general office workers who staff the clinic each night. Harvest Time International, a non profit charitable organization that provides relief to disaster, hunger and refugee victims in Central Florida and around the world. Since 1991, we have assisted low income and financially distressed families by helping them to meet their basic needs. Some of the things that Harvest-Time does locally: Operates the Community Hope Center (CHC. The CHC is a self-sufficiency program to support low income and financially distressed families through supplying food, a variety of household goods and hygiene products. The CAP is a self-funding community service, which allows the recipient to participate in their own solution by giving a donation toward the cost of operations. Christian HELP’s mission is to prevent homelessness by helping the unemployed find jobs while providing for them materially and spiritually. They founded the Central Florida Employment Council in 1994 and today over 800 employers belong to this organization. Christian HELP also produces the President's, Governor's, Mayor of Orange County's and Mayor of Orlando's Job Fairs. In addition to employment help, they house a large Food Distribution Center and offer families a wide variety of resources to meet their needs. The Sharing Center works to prevent homelessness in Seminole County by assisting low-income families with basic and necessary needs during financial emergencies caused by job loss and health problems. Assistance for families is given according to individual need and The Sharing Center resources. The mission of Heath Care Center for the Homeless is to provide quality health care services that improve the lives of the homeless and medically indigent people in our community. They have been providing quality health care services to Central Florida's homeless and indigent men, women and children for over a decade. This award-winning non-profit organization has been heralded for making the community a healthier place and for helping the homeless back to self-sufficiency. After all, you can't work if you're ill; you can't fill out an application if you can't see to read it; and in Central Florida's hospitality industry, a healthy smile is a requisite for work. The Orange Blossom Family Health Center was opened by HCCH in January of 2006 to further their mission to offer a systemic solution to move people out of homelessness and into self-sufficiency as well as offering a safety net to the financially precarious keeping them from falling into homelessness due to the expenses of a catastrophic illness or loss of income due to illness. Orange County Jail Ministry is a faith based ministry located at the Orange County Correctional Facility in Orlando, Florida. Their ministry consists of Chaplains and hundreds of volunteers that share the word of God and provide encouragement to the over 4800 men and women that are residents here at the jail. They service the Women's Facility which services all of the women residing at the facility (population of about 580), the Main Facility (population of about 1300), the BRC (Booking and Release center with a population of about 650), and the Whitcomb Building (population of about 300). This comprises a group of many people of different security levels from many different parts of the community. They work with those in solitary confinement, medium security people in secure housing blocks to those in dorm style units such as one our of faith-based units in the main facility. Orange County Jail Ministry provides church services, Bible studies, individual counseling, Bible study courses, drug and alcohol counseling, recovery programs and a reentry program for those returning to society. Serve a partner on a Distributed Journey
Northland began its relationship with church leaders in China through a symposium on ministry held by the Christian Leadership Exchange whose desire is to build bridges between the church in China and churches in the US. Those relationships have deepened over the years and have been a source of mutual encouragement and edification.
An interdenominational pastor’s alliance, a church planting movement and serving orphans, prisoners and the handicapped are some of the ministries of this vibrant church in Sofia, Bulgaria. They also meet the diverse needs of the members of their family of faith through worship, teaching and small groups.
The Amazon basin, an area larger than Western Europe, is home to some of the least evangelized people in Brazil. It is estimated that there are 36,000 river communities without a church that, due to their remote location, are only accessible by boat. Northlanders have traveled into the depths of this region to help local churches establish contact with and provide encouragement to these isolated communities in the heart of South America.
Situated in Buenos Aires, one of the most beautiful and important cities in South America, Saint Andrew’s Presbyterian Church provides spiritual leadership to the whole of the Saint Andrews community – comprised of the church, a university and one of the most renowned K-12 schools in the country – which in turn provides leadership for Argentina and the global community. Community service initiatives and youth and family ministry are hallmarks of Saint Andrews.
The national anthem proclaims “Ukraine’s glory has not perished” and this is true of its rich Christian heritage as well. Positioned at the juncture of Europe and Asia, Ukraine has political, economic and spiritual impact beyond its borders. Northland has a widespread network of relationships in Kiev including collaboration with Music Mission Kiev and the Alliance of Missionary Evangelical Churches of Ukraine.
Sri Lanka is an island nation off the southeast coast of India that became well known to Northlanders in the aftermath of the Tsunami of December, 2004. But for the previous 10 years Northland had been involved with the indigenous ministry Kithu Sevana which trains leaders, plants churches and is a witness to the love of God in this multi-cultural, often hostile, environment.
Cape Town, the legislative capital of the richest and most industrialized country in Africa (the country of South Africa), is plagued with widespread economic, social and health problems, such as racial tension, AIDS, tuberculosis and high crime rate. In this context, Vredelust Church is an agent of peace, hope, reconciliation and healing.
Situated in Cairo, the largest city in Africa and the “gateway to the Middle East”, Kasr El Dobara is the largest Protestant church in the Arabic-speaking world. They believe that God has uniquely situated and blessed them so they can be a blessing to their city and country, the Middle East and North Africa. Their tangible expressions of love for their neighbors inspire us. Their obedience in the face of opposition challenges us.
Dave and Nita Zelenak serve at the US Headquarters for New Tribes Mission (NTM). Dave provides oversight, direction, materials and on-going training for NTM’s US Representation team of 35 couples. Together with the team they work to communicate the challenge of tribal missions to the Christian community and facilitate partnerships between NTM and US churches. They also respond to requests for information from individuals, churches and the media. Nita serves as Dave’s secretary and also as spokesperson for NTM.
Kevin and Ginnette Young have a passion to reach high school students with the love of Christ. They serve with Student Venture, which is the High School ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ. Kevin is the Director of Student Venture in New York City where, since 2002, the Young’s have been sharing the Gospel through a variety of outreaches, school clubs and activities.
Bill and Lana Wolfe serve with Campus Crusade for Christ (CCC). Bill serves as the Global Field Director for the Jesus Film Project. The Jesus Film, a film on the life of Jesus according to the Gospel of Luke, has been translated into over 1,000 languages and viewed by hundreds of millions of people.
Bob & Debbie Watson serve with Missionary Ventures International (MVI). Currently Bob is developing a Volunteer Program for the Home Office located here in Orlando. The purpose of the program is to supplement the office staff with volunteers.
Chuck and Nancy Wallace serve with Bridges International, a ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ that reaches out to international students studying in America. In any given year, 700,000 international graduate students and scholars study in American universities. These are the cream of the crop from foreign countries, who have a high potential to return home to be leaders in their fields. Chuck is Director of Operations and also works with Conference planning. Nancy is involved in leadership development and ministry to staff women.
Vitaliy & Marissa Voytenko serve with Mission to the World as part of a church planting team in Lviv, Ukraine. Their mission is to cultivate and nurture life-giving relationships through the use of Vitaliy’s experience and training in counseling and Marissa’s talents and gifting in visual arts.
Willie & Caren Van Der Merwe currently live in Germany. They serve with Godspeed Missionary Care and their mission is, “To care about the emotional, spiritual and organizational well being of missionaries, missionary leaders and cross cultural missionary teams in order to refresh their spirits and to establish healthy environments in which they can thrive to help fulfill the Great Commission.” They assist multiple mission agencies serving all over the world.
Barry and Denise Spor serve with New Tribes Mission as Tribal Church planters with the Guanano people of Brazil and Colombia. Barry also serves as a church planting consultant for the West Brazil field for New Tribes.
Bob & Renee Shoemaker serve with Crown Financial Ministries. Bob is responsible for all Crown activities in 6 counties in central Florida. His focus is on increasing the number of People Taught the Crown material, developing new church relationships, and the Recruiting, Encouraging, Training and Equipping of Volunteers and Church Teams.
Alan and Chrissie Schutz serve with Priority Associates, a ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ. Priority Associates is a network of creative and corporate professionals, who are seeking to balance their professional, personal and spiritual lives. Alan’s role is to give vision and resource the ministry as a whole around the world. He gives direct oversight to city leaders across the country and internationally.
Mark and Heidi Sarracino serve with CityNet Ministries in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Mark is the Executive Director of CityNet, whose ministry is to serve the Church by equipping men and women for effective gospel ministry that builds missional church communities and interdependent, citywide networks in order to bring about systemic transformation to underserved, multicultural neighborhoods throughout metropolitan Philadelphia.
Thomas & JoAnn Richards serve with International Teams in Austria. Thomas is the Team Leader for the Oasis team, whose focus and passion is on reaching out to refugees. They are located two hundred yards down the street from Austria’s Refugee reception center. 90% of the refugees they deal with are from Islamic countries.
Dr. Jayakumar & Prema Ramachandran serve in India with Bible Believing Churches and Missions. Dr Jay leads this ministry that trains and sends out Indian church planters all over the country.
Vince & Karen Purpero live in Germany where they serve the youth of Europe with Campus Crusade for Christ. Vince is involved with assisting the development of indigenous youth ministries throughout Europe. Karen utilizes her classical piano training and experience to reach out to women.
Diane Pomroy is the state teacher trainer for Child Evangelism Fellowship of Pennsylvania. She works with the local chapters in training teachers throughout the state and also assists as needed outside of the state, including training internationally.
Jim & Sharon Perdue serve with Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) here in central Florida. Jim is the local Director for CEF and oversees the ministry to children and their families in Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties.
Kyle & Jen Pederson serve with New Tribes Missions in Papua New Guinea. Kyle is the Coordinator for all building and maintenance for the mission support center and for their tribal bush locations. Jen serves as the Hospitality Coordinator.
Don & Lynda Pederson serve with New Tribes Mission (NTM) at the International Headquarters in Sanford. Don is involved in developing and coordinating the NTM consultant program which assists NTM tribal church planting teams in the areas of linguistics, translation, language and culture learning, literacy, and church planting methods. Also, Don coordinates the development and publication of the chronological Bible teaching materials used by NTM church planting teams as well as many other mission agencies. Lynda assists him in the office and arranges travel and logistics for consultant and leader’s seminars.
Mim Pain is the Executive Assistant to the President of Development Associates International (DAI). DAI enhances the integrity and effectiveness of Christian leaders worldwide so that the Church can fulfill its role in extending the Kingdom of God. Mim lives in Colorado Springs, CO. In addition to her administrative responsibilities, she communicates with various students and supervisors who are in the MA in Leadership Programs in several Indian cities and African countries.
Todd & Debby Norvell serve with Campus Crusade for Christ (CCC). Specifically, they work with a ministry within CCC called StoryRunners. This ministry is a strategy focusing on Unreached People Groups and a partner of the OneStory Partnership. They are part of the International Orality Network, focusing on using oral strategies to reach the majority of the world’s population who come from oral tradition cultures. StoryRunners sends teams of two, for a two year mission’s project. Todd works with recruiting, application process, preparation for the field, assignment placement and pre-field training. He also provides administrative resources for field teams and US based member care.
Judith Nordaas serves in the Home Office of New Tribes Mission here in Sanford. She works in the mail room and assists with the bookstore as well.
Michael & Rachelle McInroe serve with New Tribes Mission. Michael is responsible for maintenance and construction for the retirement homes for New Tribes, located in Sanford. Rachelle assists the residents with nursing and housekeeping needs.
Timothy & Joy McCoach serve with Priority Associates, a ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ. Priority Associates is a network of creative and corporate professionals, who are seeking to balance their professional, personal and spiritual lives. Timothy provides evangelism and discipleship leadership on the national level.
Jerry & Shirley Margraves serve with PIONEERS in Bolivia. They work with the pre-school age children whose parents are in prison.
Ed & Kari Maggard serve with Campus Crusade for Christ. Ed is the Vice President - Americas Global Liaison, which places him in the unique role of gaining the big picture of the ministries global needs and helping determine how best the US movement can contribute. The goal is to promote understanding, partnership and practical solutions without slowing down activity or creating bottlenecks.
Kim Koi is the Area Director for InterVarsity in Central Florida. She provides the leadership for the local campus ministries that focus on evangelism and discipleship.
Gilbert & Chris Kingsley serve with Campus Crusade for Christ (CCC). Gilbert leads a team that helps launch and resource new ministries on campuses where CCC does not have staff leadership. Essentially Gilbert’s team is like Northland, distributing resources, strategy and expertise to students and volunteers who want to have a ministry on their campus.
Elaine Kemp serves as the Communication Liaison between the field staff and the national office of Priority Associates, a ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ. Priority Associates is a network of creative and corporate professionals, who are seeking to balance their professional, personal and spiritual lives. Elaine is also responsible to lead in producing new materials to help the staff be more effective in evangelism and discipleship.
Scott & Tiffany Kelley serve with Friends of Refugees in Clarkston, GA. Scott is the Executive Director for this ministry that seeks to help refugees who are starting new lives in the US. They assist in many different ways including English and computer classes as well as provide a camp for refugee children in the summer.
Jos & Sylvia Holtzhausen serve with Christ’s Hope International (CHI). CHI ministers to those dying from AIDS and the children whose lives are impacted by this disease. Jos is the International Director with a focus on development and establishing church partners. Sylvia is the International Coordinator for Choose-To-Wait, a biblically based curriculum for teaching about sex and AIDS.
Susan Holowecky is the Founder and President of the Maternal Care Center in Yurimaguas, Peru. The MCC or Hogar is a center for women with high risk pregnancies and extremely malnourished children. The center cares for women with high risk pregnancies who travel from far away communities by river, until they give birth in the local hospital; and very malnourished children who might often die without intervention. The time they spend in the Hogar gives Susan and the workers there an opportunity to share the gospel with them, win them to the Lord, and disciple them.
Doug & Lisa Hill serve on the Training Team with PIONEERS. As a Pre-field Coach Doug cares for new missionaries as they prepare to go overseas for long term service. Lisa provides assistance to Doug and others on the Training Team. Their goal is to continue to pour hope and encouragement into the hearts of those they serve. They do this primarily through one on one sharing of life experiences, praying with people, sharing God’s words, encouraging emails, notes, cards and regular visits to appointees and the mission field.
Dan & Lorraine Hardaway serve with Campus Crusade for Christ (CCC). Dan connects with companies outside of CCC to provide product for the Freshman Survival Kit, a ministry tool used by campus ministries. He creates bridges between music, video, movie and book publishers to provide resources for the ministry. He also is involved with a variety of projects involving training of ministry initiators and strategic planning.
Tim & Annette Gulick serve with OC International in Argentina. Their focus is on training/mentoring youth leaders in the Spanish-speaking world as well as developing and distributing youth ministry resources. Currently, they are helping to establish a youth leader training school.
Warren & Yukari Griffith serve with Mission To Japan. Based here in Central Florida, they run a home-stay program for Japanese students coming to America and also lead several mission trips each year to Japan.
Robin Muscarella serves with Campus Crusade for Christ (CCC). She designs and maintains a website specifically for staff members, interns and volunteers with Student Venture, the high school ministry of CCC. She also serves as the Student Venture representative on CCC Global ConneXion team to develop web tools for worldwide staff and volunteers.
Mark & Jana Faus serve with Mission Aviation Fellowship of Canada. They are in the process of moving into a new ministry assignment in Angola, in the city of Lubango. Mark will become the CEO of the CEML hospital. CEML (Centro Evangelico de Medicina do Lubango) is a church-related healthcare institution in the southern Angolan city of Lubango which provides medical services for an estimated 50% of Angolans who currently have no alternative coverage. Part of Mark’s responsibilities will include mentoring and training an Angolan to become the Hospital Administrator. Additional responsibilities will include integrating an aviation ministry from the hospital that would combine medical and evangelistic outreach to the Angolans in the outlying areas.
Joe & Peggy Dunn serve with Great Commission Ministries (GCM). Joe is the Managing Director for GCM Europe which focuses on building a network of churches, national pastors and leaders, and missionaries to make disciples and plant churches in Europe.
Kelly Dawson serves with Avant in Prague, Czech Republic. She is part of a new church planting team learning language and culture while pursuing opportunities for evangelism and discipleship.
Alan & Tywonn Davidson serve with Wycliffe Bible Translators. Alan is a counselor providing care and assistance for missionaries. Tywonn ministers as a nurse. They are currently preparing for a term of French language learning, with the ultimate goal of ministering to missionaries throughout central Africa while living in Cameroon.
Cesar & Grace Cubas serve with South America Mission in Peru. They minister through community development in a Christian context using multiple strategies, including micro-enterprise, social services and church planting.
Karl & Patsy Crowe serve in Headquarters of New Tribes Mission in Sanford. Karl leads the Computer Services team. Patsy assists him in that office and also helps with some medical training and assessment for the mission.
Dusty & Corrine Cooper are the founders and leaders of IsleGo Missions. Their desire is to align themselves with those groups in the Church in America that will establish long-term relationships with the Church across the globe. Dusty & Corrine provide direction, training, and mobilization for this effort; which primarily occurs through short-term missionary journeys with an emphasis on long-term relationships.
Gene & Susan Coleman serve as church planters with The Evangelical Alliance Mission (TEAM) in Italy. Currently they live and minister with the church in Pordenone where they are focusing on teaching and leadership development.
Simon & Lavonne Challinor serve with New Tribes Mission in Panama. They live and minister among the Naso Tribe where they are involved in evangelism and discipleship with the goal of planting a church.
Jessica Calvin serves with Campus Crusade for Christ at the University of Florida. She is involved with evangelistic Bible studies and discipleship.
Beth Britton serves in the Finance Department in the US office of PIONEERS, a church planting organization with a focus on unreached areas of the world. She handles donor receipts as well as missionary expense reports.
Dave & Ruth Brendle serve with New Tribes Mission (NTM) at their headquarters in Sanford. Dave is a part of the Computer Services team involved with computer hardware research and development, consulting, overseeing computer setup, and repair. Ruth edits written resources which NTM missionaries use in their ministries of evangelism, church planting, discipleship, literacy and Bible translation.
Tommy & Barbara Beck serve in Florida with Crown Financial Ministries. Tommy develops people resources and financial resources with a focus on the state of Florida.
Tammy Arrowsmith serves with Handi*Vangelism in Pennsylvania. Handi*Vangelism Ministries International is a Ministry of Compassion that exists to share the love of the Lord Jesus Christ and to equip the church to share His love with people around the world who have disabilities, medical or mental health challenges or broken hearts so that they may become growing and serving members of the body of Christ. Tammy is involved with discipleship and Bible studies and also assists with programming for the summer camp and overall recruitment for Handi*Vangelism.
Aileen Agoncillo lives in the Philippines and serves as a Communications Strategist with Wycliffe International in Asia and the Pacific.
