What is Podcasting?
Podcasting is simply a method of delivering and/or receiving fresh audio and
video content from web sites that offer such content. Users install a Podcast client
program on their local computer and then subscribe to Podcast 'feeds' found at web sites
offering the content. The Podcast client checks the feeds on a regular basis for new content,
and when new content is made available it is downloaded to the user's computer
automatically. For example, a user who subscribes to the Northland iWorship video
podcast will automatically receive the content delivered to their Podcast
client anytime we post new video content. We currently have two podcasts available, one
is an audio only podcast and the other is a complete video
podcast.
What do I need to get started?
You need to download and install a Podcast client. Here are a few available Podcast
clients:
How do I use iTunes with the Northland podcast?
Before you begin, make sure you have iTunes 4.9 or later. Any previous version will NOT work.
You can download the newest version from
apple.com.
- From the iTunes program, locate the Podcasts item in the Source menu and click it.
- At the bottom, you'll see Podcast Directory. Click here, and it will take you to the Podcasts
page on the iTunes music store.
- On the right side at the top is a search box. Type in Northland, or similar. You should find
the result, "Northland, A Church Distributed iWorship".
- From here all you have to do is click Subscribe.
- The program will automatically download the latest audio, and you can listen to or download
more audio from the Podcasts menu in iTunes.
