Belong/Membership Opportunities
Once we believe in Christ and belong to Him, we also belong to each other as the body of Christ. The body of Christ consists of all believers throughout all of time. It is a community of faith made up of those individuals who profess Jesus as Lord and who have His transforming Spirit at work in their lives. His church is His representative on earth and a change-agent in the world. As the body of Christ, we are to give our very lives in service to others, taking the hope of Christ to the world.
Before you decide to commit to Northland as your local church, please consider what we believe and the role God has called us to play in the world. Interested in becoming a member of Northland? Three options are available to you—choose the one that works best for you!
OPTION 1 Online: Anytime Complete all 20 sessions of the Belong study online, then print and fill out the BELONG COVENANT. You can drop the form into the offering box at any Northland site or mail to: Ruth Sapp, Northland, A Church Distributed, 530 Dog Track Road, Longwood, FL 32750. OPTION 2 Six-week class. Hear Pastor Kevin Urichko and other Northland leaders describe what it means to belong to Christ and to Northland. Child care is available. Contact Jamila Millette at jamila.millette@northlandchurch.net or 407-937-1832.

About this series
What is the Belong study?
This study is for anyone wanting to know more about what it means to belong to Christ. There are 20 different sessions provided, each with a short introductory video, followed by a personal study. Watch the video and complete the Bible study at your own pace. At the end of each study is a feature that allows you to email your answers to your own email account.
Do I Belong at Northland?
The New Testament knows nothing of freelance Christianity. It is the corporate witness of the redeemed fellowship that is used by the Spirit of God. - Geoffrey King
All of us have a need to believe in and be a part of something bigger than ourselves. Ultimately, our need for belonging will never be satisfied until we belong to Christ. Belonging to the body of Christ is a natural result of belonging to Jesus Christ Himself. But belonging to a local church is a decision. It is like joining a family through marriage.
Historically, Northland has not been a church that has promoted membership - mostly because membership has been a part of an institutional church mindset, while Northland is a more organic sort of place. Although membership has not been stressed, participating in a local believing community is vital. We need each other. We need a local community with whom to identify, worship and serve. We need a place to contribute as we are transformed together into the image of Christ.

Belonging at Northland can take many different forms. If you are not someone who needs to make your commitments formal, then you belong at Northland whenever you decide that God has brought you to this community.
If you prefer to formally join with the Northland leadership and congregation to achieve our mission and purpose as a member, you can do that by completing this study. The study will help you know more fully the family that you are joining. The process will be completed with an opportunity to share your story and sign a personal membership covenant.
