Babel - When We Became Them
Redefining Secondary Relationships

Dr. Margi McCombs serves as Northland’s executive director of equipping. Margi’s primary role is to give visionary direction and oversight to those who lead spiritual formation initiatives and ministries for children, students and adults in Northland’s faith community. Her singular goal is to equip believers of every age to worship and serve. “I like the twin threads of humor and humility that are woven throughout the fabric of our leadership,” she says of Northland, “and the ethos of constant change that is usually a direct response to the ever-changing culture around us.” Margi holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary and special education, a master’s degree in Christian counseling and a doctorate in education. As the child of missionaries, she was born and raised in Cote D’Ivoire, West Africa, coming to America at age 16. The early exposure to global ministry as well as growing up in a home where biblical studies were encouraged both helped prepare her for work in ministry and education. Professionally, Margi founded the International Community School, a local Christian school focused on providing students with a global worldview. She and her husband, Jim, have been married since 1980 and have five children: four grown sons and one teen daughter, as well as one daughter-in-law.
