Attend an ORIENTATION/BRIEFING meeting for anyone interested in deployment to Haiti with the Disaster Response teams through ACTS World Relief over the next several months.

The meeting will take place on Wednesday March 3, 2010 from 7 to 8:45 p.m., room 4209.

This will be a required meeting for anyone thinking about deployment over the next several months.  We will have two nurses from the Haiti 2 team describing the setup of the clinic, the mission, deployment requirements and the expectations. In addition, there will be presentations from the emotional and spiritual care teams on the mental and physical challenges of the trip.

The immediate needs in Haiti are medical (non-surgical), medical support personnel, emotional and spiritual support, and some kitchen help.

All applicants for deployment will be required to complete the deployment package, which includes a background check, passport requirements, as well as the necessary shots which must be able to be verified. All shots must be completed six weeks prior to travel. Please plan on attending even if you participated in the Haiti 1 trip (and would like to be deployed again) since the mission has changed.

This orientation/briefing will not be repeated prior to May 15, 2010. If you have an interest in travel between now and May, please attend this meeting. We will show a short video of Haiti as well as a slide show of the highlights of the past two trips. Many members from both trips will be on hand to answer any questions that you may have.

Prayer - This group prays individually for each woman who submits a prayer request from the Orange County 33rd Street Correctional Facility. They pray by name and send a card of encouragement to the women weekly. The name J33P Group came from the following. J33 is from Jeremiah 33:3 which says: “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” (Remember, this is the 33rd St. Jail.) P is for pray-ers. So we are the Jeremiah 33:3 pray-ers group or J33P for short.

Watch the on-demand recording of the first class in this 18-week series.

Explore the Gospel of Mark during this in-depth, 18-week study on the ministry years of Christ. Your eyes will be opened as you learn about the origins of Mark’s Gospel, which may well have been written in response to the fire that destroyed Rome in 64 A.D. The Emperor Nero blamed that fire on the Christians, and severe persecution ensued ... it was to these believers Mark was writing to. He calls on his readers to take on the nature of Christ as they endure sufferings, while continuing to be faithful servants.

Taught by Dr. Dan Lacich, one of Northland’s pastors. Attend in Longwood in room 4213/15, or access this class LIVE ONLINE at 9 a.m. (EST) on Sundays! Just click on the “Gospel of Mark” link on the homepage to join.

He believes in the philosophy of “loving a man to Jesus until he is ready to love another man to Jesus”—and that we can reach our world if each Christian man would spend six months with another man, leading him to Christ and then equipping him to equip another, and another, and another ... until the world has known the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

Weekly Worship Service (Monday 7 p.m.)

Time: 7 p.m.-8:15 p.m.

Location: Longwood

Join us at this time each week at Longwood and Online. Each week’s service is unique and themed around an attribute of God’s nature (i.e. His mercy, goodness, grace, etc.). The preaching is biblical, applicable and winsome. And the music is a mix of contemporary worship and beloved hymns—blending the foundational and the modern. It’s what Robert Webber called “ancient future” worship, “The common tradition of the church’s worship in Word, Table, and song, practiced faithfully and communicated clearly in every context of the world.” Woven together are the historical creeds of the faith and time-honored practices of the church, with new, innovative tools and modern expressions of worship.

J33 is from Jeremiah 33:3 which says: “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” (Remember, this is the 33rd St. Jail.) Time: 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

Location: Longwood in The Rink

Contact: Questions? Contact Sarah Mattingly at 407-949-7170

It is in the interior landscape of the heart that God places treasures for others to find. Life can deal with us harshly, but in God’s hands, what’s left behind turns into pure gold. Matters of the heart, which matter to God, are a gift to those around you. What do you have to give away?

Ladies! Please join us for a special time of fellowship on Friday, March 19, as we talk and learn about “Matters of the Heart” with our special guest speaker, Dr. Margi McCombs. Conversations is an exciting opportunity for the women of Northland to come together in community as we learn, eat, and worship together. Margi, who serves as executive director of equipping at Northland, is passionate about helping women discover the gifts that God has given each of them to give in relationship. Her message will encourage and inspire you as she focuses on the unique wiring of a woman’s heart and the power of friendship and mentoring relationships. No matter what your age or life situation, this is a conversation you will not want to miss!

In an effort to accommodate as many women as possible, we are offering this great event twice! Participate Friday, March 19 at 10 a.m. OR at 7 p.m. You do not need to attend both—simply choose the morning session or the evening session.

Tickets are $5.00.

Celebrate Recovery One-Day Seminar for Church Leaders

Time: 8:00am-4:00pm

Location: Longwood in The Rink

Contact: Questions? Call Laurie Jean Harrington at 407-927-4393 or email lauriejean2@bellsouth.net

Church Leaders, here are some reasons why during these difficult times you should to consider attending the Celebrate Recovery One Day Seminar:

1. When the economy is struggling people in your church and community are hurting. They are facing the possibility of losing their jobs, their homes, or struggling just to pay their monthly bills. They can feel hopeless and defeated.

2. History has proven that during times like these the number of people turning to addictions and compulsions greatly increases. When people are hurting, they turn to anything to numb the pain. They start abusing alcohol, drugs, food, sex, gambling, and one another.

3. In the United States, there are already 18 million alcoholics, 4 million drug addicts, 16 million sex addicts, and 4 million addicted to food. The list goes on and on. These numbers are only going to increase during the months to come!

We know the only true and lasting answer for those feeling hopeless and defeated is to turn to Jesus Christ! But how does your church reach out to those in your congregation and community that are struggling? Over 12,000 churches have found a way to help individuals with any kind of hurt, hang-up, or habit. They started a Celebrate Recovery—a Christ-centered Recovery program based on God’s Word.

We hope that you or a team from your church will consider attending this Celebrate Recovery One Day Seminar. You will learn everything you need to know about starting a Celebrate Recovery in your church. For more information go to www.celebraterecovery.com.

If you already have a Celebrate Recovery ministry currently running in your church, we will also have an Advanced Leadership Training track. It will help your leadership team be more effective in helping the individuals that God sends to your church find victory over their hurts, hang ups, and habits.
