7-2-72 I became a Hunter. Joel and I said our vows at 3 p.m. on that sunny Sunday afternoon at Bradley United Methodist Church in Greenfield, Indiana. Today we celebrate 40 years of enjoying life together.
It may sound Pollyannaish, but it's true—marriage to Joel Hunter is the incredible blessing that many folks assume it might be. So often, when I'm encouraging a wife in her marriage, she will say to me, "Easy enough for you to say. You are married to Joel Hunter. If I was married to Joel marriage would be easy!" You know what. Those women are right; Joel does make it easy for me to be a joyful wife. He is a godly man who loves the Lord and truly aspires to do good, to bring "up there, down here."
So today, I just want to join the chorus of voices who express accurately the goodness of my husband and thank God for the great pleasure of being Joel Hunter's wife for four decades. I am so grateful and I look forward to another 40 or so years with him down here before we join hands around God's throne forever.
"God said, 'It's not good for the Man to be alone; I'll make him a helper, a companion.'" Genesis 2:18
