Habitat for Humanity of Seminole-Apopka, along with Northland and several other houses of worship, will begin construction of a home in the Altamonte Springs community through an interfaith build initiative, appropriately named Harmony House. The house will bring together Christian, Muslim and Jewish faiths for the purpose of building a simple, decent, affordable home in partnership with a family in need.
Groundbreaking took place on January 29 and now we're ready to roll up our sleeves and get to work! That means we need faithful and willing volunteers just like YOU!
Opportunities to volunteer are on Saturdays and Sundays and typically start at 11 a.m. Upcoming opportunities to serve:
March 10 - 11: install windows and doors Saturday, install shingles & siding Sunday (8 volunteers per day still needed)
March 17 - 18: install shingles & siding Saturday, install wall insulation Sunday (12 volunteers per day)
March 24 - 25: Install siding - Saturday & Sunday (12 volunteers needed per day)
March 31 - April 1: install wall insulation Saturday & Sunday (12 volunteers needed per day)
All tools are provided for you and a project/site leader is present each day. Prior experience in construction is great, but skill and/or experience are NOT REQUIRED to participate! So, don't be shy ... come get your hands dirty and help us all build a home for a family in need!
If you are available to help during any of the days/times above, contact Habitat for Humanity Volunteer Coordinator, Kateriana Cruz at KCruz@HabitatSeminoleApopka.org or 407-252-5002!
