We were able to spend our Sunday morning with a church in a small village about an hour or so from where we are staying. I want to tell you mostly about the pastor of this church, Elysse. He is a young man who has a renewed passion for the Gospel. He has a vision for his village to have all of the people come to a full understanding of the gospel, renounce Voodoo and come into a relationship with Jesus. We were able to worship together, share some Bible stories with the kids and then hear the Gospel and be reminded of the redemption that we have been given by the Holy Spirit.
After service we were invited to have lunch with the pastor and his family by the seaside. It was one of the most beautiful places I have been to. Clear blue water, sea breeze and good company were constant reminders that our God is a creative designer who loves beauty. We left lunch and got back to our home base, had some downtime and got ready for our next day.
Around 5 p.m. David Canther, the fedora-wearing founder of ACTS World Relief, got in from the airport to spend the week with us. We had an awesome time hearing his vision for this ministry and his passion for Jesus—not only meeting people’s physical needs but their spiritual needs, being Jesus to people who are in need.
Monday, we are headed to an orphanage to treat 20-25 kids who have scabies—washing the walls, the sheets and the kids, and training the workers there to put the medicine on the kids and how to treat the scabies outbreak. We are hoping and praying that this will help in some way to stop the outbreak.
God is doing some awesome things in Haiti. He is raising up a generation of change and love. God is here ... He has always been here, and people are realizing that He is the only constant, the only real love, the only Salvation they can have. Praise God that people right and left are renouncing voodoo, praying against Satan and the powers of darkness. Praise God!
May we be always be reminded that we love only because He has loved us first. That we are nothing without our Father, apart from Him we are nothing.
God is so good.
